So I emailed Linden Hall to see about my Resume. I received this response:
Dear Ms. Adams, I forwarded your resume to our athletic director, dance falls under athletics at Linden Hall at this time. It is not really my position to say, since I am not in the athletic department, but I am sure you would like a response so I am going to say that to my knowledge we are not hiring a dance instructor at this time.
Linden Hall currently has only middle school dance and it's a club. I emailed her back saying I was interested in Upper School and it being for credit. I haven't heard back from her or the Athletics director.
I just had a nice talk on the phone with Michele about Dance for the middle schoolers. Mostly, we talked about the future of the dance program. We both agreed that this group of girls are an interesting bunch and numbers are low in everything. She was very nice in telling me that she thinks I'm very valuable to AIS and appreciates everything I do for AIS. However, things might change. Since Middle School has low numbers in dance and my class got canceled for this session, they have an overflow of girls in fitness. One idea they had is to hire a Yoga instructor. Since they are hiring somebody new, my contract is being examined. They might use the money for MS dance this session to pay the Yoga teacher. Yes, that sucks... slightly.... but I understand that if I'm not teaching a session, I shouldn't get paid. I should be thankful that I get paid over the summer without teaching (hopefully that doesn't change)!!! I'm kinda interested in how my salary gets broken down anyway. I was never told. I don't know what I make on Upper School, Dance Motion, or MS dance, so this will be interesting. I just hope they don't come to a conclusion that they are over paying me. They might find out that I'm under paid (which I doubt, but wouldn't that be nice). So please keep my future in your prayers. I'm slightly nervous about the outcome..... but I don't think this change will crush me and it should be back to the old way next year.
No one has contacted me about teaching the summer session at AIS after I was asked about it several months ago. I looked at the brochure the other day. They have a regular dance class and a hip hop dance scheduled. What does this mean? No one contacted me about what I can teach or what times I was available, so does this mean they have someone else?? In fear that I won't be working there this summer, I contacted Burn Brae Day Camp again. I asked to teach there twice a week. Lisa wrote me back and said that she'll think about it. Michelle, from the studio: UMDGC, asked me to take over the summer Pointe class. Usually Jackie does it, but she's been having some issues with her. That makes about 4 classes I'll teach this summer for her (modern 1, modern 2, pre-dance, and now pointe). I'm also teaching a ballet workshop for Gail at contempradance (possibly two). That starts July 5 and runs a week long. It's good to have something lined up for the summer, which is nice. However, I'll also have time to enjoy the beach and other outdoor stuff.
