not that tonight's going to be a good night, but the whole year :)
I have many good things ahead of me.
The first day of the new year was brought in with my amazing family. It's so funny how many times I hear people say they wished they were apart of my family. It really makes me stop and think how lucky I am. We had our second annual Top Chef competition. We started off with a quick fire challenge: Pirogi filling of your choice. I was so impressed with the combinations! I did a chicken soup pirogi. It came in 4th place. For the real contest part, I came in last place last year, so I was ready to bring it this year. I cooked cheeseburger sliders with apple wood smoked bacon and apple smoked provolone cheese. The secret ingredient was a coffee rub, which rocketed me to third place!!!
On the day of my birthday, Jed cooked my favorite home cooked meal: Chicken and Dumplings. It was almost like mom makes. :) Saturday was my party and I had a really great time. I'm enjoying my group of friends so much these days. It's so great to have a group of people I can count on and that really make me feel like they enjoy being friends. Allison, Joel, Christine, Dan, Ann Mae and Pete came over and all we did was laugh. Ann Mae made me this awesome checkerboard cake that blew my mind. It was so pretty.
Things are coming along with the wedding rather nicely. We had to change the date of the wedding, because Jed might be in the playoffs on Oct. 1st. We decided the only way to stick with our theme was to push it up to his All Star Break, July 10th. Green Gables is booked and it's more beautiful than I remembered. There's 4 giant trees holding up the roof of the reception hall. We would like to get married outside on the grounds underneath a willow tree near the lake. Some things we are doing to save on expenses are: 1. No mailing save the dates cards 2. Making our own invitations 3. Having the wedding in Johnstown 4. RSVP online on the website 5. Buying a clearance/discontinued dress 6. Making my own veil and shoes 7. Leanne owns her own cake magazine and begged to make our cake! 8. Family friend is a photographer 9. One of the groomsmen is DJing 10. My bridesmaid, Christine has been doing flowers as a side job for several years. Talk about knowing some creative people. We thank all these people for offering to do this for us. We are so grateful that you all are so excited to help out. Yay! We will definitely pay it forward.
This year is also going to be busy with dancing and traveling. Dancing with two companies is a dream come true. Indigenous Pitch is having 6 SHOWS at the end of March/beginning of April. 180 Dance has their full length performance Saturday April 16th. This summer I will be joining IPDC again in Haiti or/and New Orleans. New Orleans may be 3 weeks!! In May, I'm leading a service trip with Agnes Irwin School to Jamaica. We will be working at a local children's hospital. I must say, I'm a little nervous leading 15 students to another country, but I'm glad that my co-captain is Christine.
And... sometime in April I'll be moving.
That's a lot of stuff to look forward too.
Should be exciting.
