Update

Dance Motion has started and I'm excited about all the dances being formed.

I have 20 girls this year (5 less than last year, which is fine). This year the senior group is the first group I've had all 4 years (including my assistant year). They are very close to my heart, so seeing them go will be a sad thing. Some changes this year are: Chris and I are not dancing. There might be a chance to have Vive come in and dance a section of Curt's choreography, but we are not choreographing one for ourselves. We came to this conclusion because we are doing away with student pieces. This year we only have two student pieces and no solos.  In following years, only seniors will be allowed to choreograph. and they will not dance in their piece. This caused slight problems with Rayna being big headed and not joining this year, because she can't do a solo. Which is fine. I have no patience for people who think they are better than everyone else.

This year the dances are:
Can-Can Ballet (thought of this way before SYTYCD did one)
Guardian Angel dance (modern)
Swing dance to Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy
Dance with Yoga balls and Hula hoops
Improv dance about growth
Opening number to Ruby Blue
And Chris is doing ballet and modern dances
Students: Tanisha is doing a hiphop number
Jennifer is doing a dance inspired by Michael Jackson

I'm trying something new myself this year. Some dances I'm leaving up to chance. There are dances this year that I only have ideas and letting the students/moment inspire me. I'm letting the student's expand their creativity within my dances as well. You will see many numbers in the program labeled as choreographed by Genevieve Adams and students. It's going very well so far.

Also, AIS has asked me to work summer session. I'm accepting the opportunity. It's closer to my house (than Burn Brae camp), I get paid more, only 6 weeks, and NO PICKING UP STUDENTS!! I talked to Jed about it as well and he thinks it's a good idea also. There was talk about moving to Lancaster for the summer, but Jed plays baseball then and travels alot. We don't live that far away and things have been pretty awesome with seeing each other every weekend. He's amazing.
