So after our long dangerous hike that we survived, it was time for some BINGO! I think it was hilarious to go play. I love doing new random things. Who would of thought we'd be playing Bingo with the old locals of Rockaway Beach. Benny was cracking us up the whole time by being over-dramatic and striking up conversations with everyone. I would put up some quotes from him, but they probably wouldn't be funny without the whole scenario. Jed actually won a game, which was nice because he paid for everyone to play. Benny's wife, Leanne, showed up in the middle of playing. You had to enter the building through the front door which was in front of everyone. So she felt extremely embarrassed when she walked in and everyone was looking at her. Jed even tried to wave at her and the Bingo leader thought he had bingo... ha!! No one else won, but it was still good times.
Next we went to the beach and made a fire. Cooked apple chicken sausages and tossed a glow in the dark football around. I've always wanted to make a fire on the beach, but in New Jersey you're not allowed. It was a clear night, so the stars were simply amazing. God is so good. It just reminded me of the book "Crazy Love" where it talks about God's creation. The love He has for us to create all these wonderful things to enjoy.... I was in awe. Leanne and Benny went back alittle earlier than Jed and I. Amongst other things, we talked about the vastness of God's love. I so thankful for Jed. I'm finding out we have similar views on God, which is so comforting.
The next morning we had breakfast at Private's Cove. Jed had been talking about their fruit plate all week and we just made fun of him.... until we saw it. They really do have an amazing fruit plate! From there we made our way to the shops and Rock-tober fest (some music festival). I ended up buying two things. A beach bag that says "Rockaway Beach, OR" and a little turtle for Jed. Jed's younger sister died in a car accident a few months ago. One of her favorite things was turtles. Jed recently told me that every time he saw a turtle it reminded him of her. He was very gracious when I gave it to him.
That day we also visited a lighthouse (a small one) and a cheese factory. Jed and I got the 5 ice cream sampler with pumpkin, peanut butter, blackberry, sticky bun, and blueberry cheesecake flavors. Delicious!
Back to Portland.
When we got back, we went to Jed's sister's house to have dinner. There we had an amazing dinner with Robin, Troy and his two nephew's Corbin and Fin. Corbin, Jed, Troy and I played Wii bowling and Frisbee after dinner. I had a great time. I really liked them all and felt comfortable in their house. Went to Benny's and crashed.
Next day, Jed and I went to see a movie at this old school. The school was built in the 20s or 30s (I think?). After it closed down, someone bought it and made it into a hotel/movie theater/resturant. It's been darn cool. We watched the movie on comfy couches. Everything inside is very artsy and decorated with old pictures of the school. They still have signs up for detention room (which is a smoking bar now) and the library (which is a conference room now). LAter that night, we went to a Vietnamese restaurant to eat "Pho" (which is a soup) with Benny and Leanne.
Flight home that night. Jed and I had a amazing trip together. I'm incredibly happy and just grow closer to him the more we spend time together. I feel good about this.
The end
