Prep for Hati....

Vaccines are expensive.

I know some of you have been to Haiti or Africa... maybe you can relate. I just got my Typhoid shot and it was 185 dollars!!! (ouch). That included the shot and the visit to travel medicine center. My doctor wrote me a prescription for Hep. A, which is $92 dollars (each shot of a set of two). This may get covered by my insurance, but I have to summit it to my insurance company myself and it has to be reviewed. The malaria pills are about $50 (though, I just read that on the internet, not really sure how Acme will charge me).  I know after I get back I'll think it was all worth it. I don't want to get these diseases and the experience in it's self will be rewarding. Right now, it just feels like alot of money.....

Please read my post below, as we are still raising money and collecting supplies. Here's the list of supplies again:
  • sheets
  • towels
  • individual snacks
  • bottled water
  • batteries
  • flashlights
  • sidewalk chalk
  • musical instruments and supplies
  • pillows
  • sport drinks
  • bug spray (at least 30% deet)
  • bubbles
  • pencils
  • notebooks
