Haiti Update

Haiti:
Things are gearing up for the Haiti Trip! I leave in less than a week. This excited/nervous feeling is growing by the second. I do, now, feel prepared (as much as I could be) for this trip. Please listen to this radio interview with Chris and Nicole. They did an awesome job and it explains everything!

If you read the one blog I posted a few weeks ago, you know about the company who gave us a matching grant for 10,000 dollars.  We reached our 10,000 dollar goal!! We are all so excited! Thank you for everyone that helped. We also shipped all our supplies earlier this week. I'm all vaccinated and I'll be washing my clothes in this repellent wash. I should be well protected against those nasty bugs. It's also going to be the rainy season (woowho). I can't imagine all the things we will encounter down there. This camp will be interesting considering we have 4 hours of electricity a day and the kids speak another language. I'm ready for these challenges. I'm so honored to be a part of this exciting journey! I hope to continue to work with Indigenous Pitch throughout the years.

On Sunday, Storehouse Church prayed for me. I had emailed JR (our pastor) about the trip and asked if the church could keep us in their prayers. JR called me up on stage and made me talk in front of everyone!!!! I was so nervous, but did fine with explaining the organization, the trip, and my excitement to be involved. I was so happy that the whole church collectively prayed for the team and the kids in Haiti.

Other News:
On Monday, I went to the foot doctor. I've been having problems in my left foot related to an injury 9 years ago.  I was at the beach and stepped on a shell that went pretty deep, but did not require stitches. The x-rays on Monday showed I had something still stuck in there. He shaved the callus and gave me a cortisone shoot (which burns like heck!). Sitting here currently, I do not feel like it helped. However, I haven't been dancing since.

This week is my week off before I start summer classes. Bowman Dance Camps are now doing well with registration, so I'm not doing that as of now. I'm only teaching two classes on Tuesdays. I don't know how my finances will be, but I think I'll be ok. with all the recent injuries (including the ribs), I think it's a start choice to take it easy this summer.

Here's a picture update of the Cleveland Zoo trip with Lydia, my UMDGC classes during the recital, and Jed in uniform for the Cancer Awareness Night at the field.
