My take on Parenting
Yep. It's a tooth! It's poking out more now. So it wasn't the milk I drank!! He has been fussy, drooling, and chomping down on his little hand because he was getting a tooth! I didn't think it was possible yet, because it was early (not the norm). But hey... every baby's different.
Jonah is still sleeping through the night (Hallelujah!). So clearly, teething has no effect on bedtime. Now naps have been a different situation. Recently, He fights naps during the day. However, today has gone considerably well so far.
Another praise report: We haven't used our own money to buy diapers or wipes yet! I've been think about getting gDiapers when we do. They are more biodegradable and less wasteful. They cost about the same as regular diapers.
I'm glad that I'm not obsessing over books and different parenting styles. It would end up driving me crazy and probably Jonah too. I rely ALOT on mother's intuition. I've made mistakes (well, I guess you could call them mistakes however it's never been anything major). I do read about babies, but only when something arises that I'm not sure on. And even then, I take it all with a gain of salt. I think going with Jonah's personal rhythm has helped us all greatly. I didn't worry about how much sleep, how many naps, how many dirty diapers, etc. I let him do what he seemed like he needed at the time. Granted, Jonah is a very good baby. I'm not saying he's been easy because of my parenting style (or lack there of). He's an easy baby and has been since he was born. The only thing that's been a problem is gas and even that is manageable once you understand the problem.
I know that a pacifier has helped him sleep greatly and be comforted during teething. He rarely takes it if it's not nap time and even now, we can lay him down without it occasionally. He uses it mostly in the beginning of the nap/bedtime and self soothes when it falls out.
Another HUGE helpful thing we did was to lay him on his belly to sleep. It was a scary decision at first, because everyone said not too. However, ever since we did it, he slept SO much better.
There's SO much to fear when raising a child. If we worry about everything we do with our children, raising them will be no fun at all. You need to trust yourself, trust your child, and trust God. I do believe you should be educated, but make your decisions without fear or worry. Those things aren't of God any way, right? A lot of it is common sense. I'm no expert, but I love Jonah more than anything! I'm fully committed to his utmost well being.
