Happy Camper (Jonah's First Camping...and Vincent's too)

So Lydia, Amaryah, Dave, Jed, Jonah, and I left for Watkins Glen, NY this past Saturday. We left around 11 and it was a 5 hour drive. Jonah did OK in the car. He had a couple screaming fits. Not being very safe, I breastfed in the back seat of a moving car. There were no rest stops for awhile and he was super hungry. I did it twice. The second time, we had to stop because he wouldn't stop crying. We calmed him down and then I started feeding him. I felt bad that we stopped again, so before I was done feeding him, we started driving again. I don't recommend doing it.

Jonah did great at the campsite. He mostly played in his pea pod because of the bugs. He ended up going to bed at 6:30 and stayed asleep until 2am. He never cried, just kind of whined. At 5:30am I woke up freezing and realized that Jonah was sleeping only in a sleeper. He was still asleep but he had to be freezing. Jed took him and covered him up with our blankets on his chest. He slept another hour at least.

Vincent's first night was OK too. He was a little restless and trying to sleep with all of us. He even tried to climb into Jonah's pea pod. No barking, growling, or trying to get out of the tent. The second night was much better. He laid on his blanket the whole night.

Watkins Glen was absolutely beautiful. I wish we had more time to soak it all in, but Jonah would start crying if Jed stopped walking. We will eventually go back someday when Jonah's older. I heard there's a lot more waterfalls in the area that we didn't get to see.

The trip back was better with Jonah. He fell asleep on his own twice. We pulled over for lunch and I fed him in the parking lot. The second time he was hungry I had a bottle ready. We were in crazy stopped traffic when he pooped. I successfully changed his diaper in the back. I put a pillow and a blanket on top of his car seat.  Laid him on top and it worked out, haha.

I love that we are doing things! Let's keep up the adventures. I'm blessed to have a little boy who let's us explore.
